Volunteer Translator
Assist the Spanish-speaking clients during their visit to the Tax Center by translating from Spanish to English as needed. Assist with the setup and cleanup of the VITA site, including but not limited to setting up or taking down tables and chairs, loading and unloading laptops or printers, assembling forms, emptying trash containers, etc.

Volunteer Tax Preparer
During the tax season from late January to April 15, 2013 the Volunteer Tax Preparer helps qualified families and individuals prepare their Federal tax returns, using an interview or form based software program, with the objective of ensuring that all eligible families apply for and receive all the appropriate credits they are due.
Additionally, the Volunteer Tax Preparer will:
- Provide friendly customer service to all clients
- Talk with clients to gather information necessary to process their tax returns
- Identify the client’s filing status, who qualifies as a dependent, and their eligibility for tax credits
- Prepare tax returns by entering data into tax software
- Explain the tax return to the client and answer questions
Training: Volunteer Tax Preparers must complete training and pass the IRS certification certification. See Training for schedule.
Time commitment: 1.) Completion of training. 2.) Volunteer as often as possible for a 4-hr shift during the 16 week tax season. Hours are flexible on weekday evenings and/or Saturdays.
Volunteer Tax Preparers need to feel comfortable using Windows-based computer software, sign and comply with the IRS Volunteer Agreement, and be comfortable working with people from all walks of life.
Site Support Volunteer:
Serve as a Greeter helping all the clients feel welcomed. Provide support to the Volunteer Tax Preparers by reviewing client information to ensure they have the necessary documentation. Assist with the setup and cleanup of the Tax Center Site, including but not limited to setting up or taking down tables and chairs, loading and unloading laptops or printers, assembling forms, emptying trash containers, etc.
